I’m 6’4, 280 this seat is a must! I tried pushing the stock seat back, but it just didn’t do the job. I decided to purchase the extended reach the difference is night and day. It sits 2″ back and 2″ higher it’s also about 2″ wider than the stock seat. I sold my stock seat with 2,700 for $500.00 to help with the cost.
The only complaint I had about my Springfield was that it was a bit tight for me at 6’6″ tall. I was sitting on the back edge of the seat and not in the seat. So, I decided to give the extended reach seat a try. I am really glad that I did. The bike is SO much more comfortable now. I feel I have better control and I can ride for hours (though I only have about 20 miles on it as I just got it a couple of hours ago). I got the box today, only 3 days after I ordered it. It did not come with any instructions, so I was ready for a long difficult job, but that is not what happened. The old seat came off in about 2 minutes. There was a plug just for the heated seat under the old seat, and it was hanging there and I just plugged it in and it clicked in place. Getting the new seat to line up in the front with the two connections took a few minutes, but once that was on, 3 bolts and I was done. Total job, about 15 minutes. If I did another one it would take me 5-10 minutes. It sits up much higher, and also further back quite a bit. I have an extended reach seat on my Suzuki DL650, and I could hardly tell the difference. Not so with this seat… night and day difference. THANKS Indian.
I ended up buying this seat after a season with the stock seat. The extended reach seat provided a more comfortable seating position for myself (6’2″, 210lbs.) and my wife. The seat sits you slightly higher as well. The heat is nice for chilly weather, although I rarely use the high setting for any extended periods (low is sufficient, high gets very hot)
